The name Lucy Mae is inspired by two extraordinary women who helped shape my life and the values that guide this company today.
“Lucy” comes from my maternal grandmother, Lucille, who was lovingly known as Lucy. Though she dedicated her life to caring for her family and home, she was one of the strongest and most fearless women I have ever known. A woman of strong and unwavering faith, Lucy firmly believed that the church lived within the person, not within the walls of a building. To her, faith was something carried in the heart and reflected in how one lived, loved, and treated others. Her belief in God remained a source of strength, courage, and perseverance throughout her life. She was known for her warm spirit, her incredible cooking, and the love she poured into everyone around her. Family and friends still remember her homemade Southern sweet potato pies and Southern fried chicken, which brought people together and made everyone feel at home. Her resilience, determination, unwavering love, and ability to overcome life’s challenges taught me lessons that continue to influence my life today.
“Mae” comes from the middle name of my paternal grandmother, Onie Mae. She is a retired educator who earned her teaching degree from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina, a historically Black university (HBCU), continued her studies through the University of Georgia, and dedicated her career to education. Together with my late grandfather, Clarence Broadus Sr., a farmer, she built a life rooted in hard work, faith, education, and service to others.
Throughout her life, she served as a devoted Bible school teacher, missionary, choir member, community advocate, and servant leader. Whether through education, faith, or community involvement, she spent her life investing in others and continues to inspire me through the example she has set and the values she instilled in those around her.
Though their journeys were different, both women embody the qualities that define Lucy Mae Investment Group: Legacy, Elegance, Power, Strength, Resilience, Substance, and Timelessness.
Growing up in Jefferson County, Georgia, on my family’s cattle farm, I learned early on the value of land ownership, hard work, and investing for the future. Those early lessons sparked a lifelong appreciation for real estate and the opportunities it creates for individuals, families, and future generations.
Today, Lucy Mae Investment Group reflects the values passed down through generations. It was founded not only to invest in real estate, but also to create opportunity, preserve legacy, and honor the strength of those who came before us.
At its heart, Lucy Mae Investment Group is a tribute to family, a commitment to community, and a belief that what we build today can impact generations to come.
